NDI Stream Source Configuration

AVID

If you are using AVID Media Composer, you can generate an NDI source from within the AVID editor timeline by using the Hardware/Software (HW/SW) button.

In older versions, this button will look like this:

In newer versions, this button will look like this:

To enable the NDI output functionality in AVID Media Composer:

• Right-click the HW/SW button and make sure that NDI is selected.
• Right-click the HW/SW button again, and make sure that either "Play local audio when broadcasting" or "Desktop audio" is enabled (the wording of this option will change depending on your AVID MC version)
• Click the HW/SW button to start streaming. You will see a blinking red arrow or beacon, indicating that the NDI output is live:

How to stream the Media Composer video over the internet using NDI

Premiere

If you're using Premiere, you'll want to install the NDI runtime toolkit, available here.

Within the Premiere preferences, you'll want to make sure the Audio Device in your Playback preferences is set to NDI Source:

QTake

If you're looking to use Qtake to generate an NDI signal, note that it is disabled by default. In order to enable it, you'll need to follow these steps:

1. Purchase the Stream module from QTAKE's rental shop, in addition to whatever else is required for your video assist rig.

   

2. Once you've installed QTAKE, use the INFO menu to open the PREFERENCES panel. 

   

3. In the EXTERNAL tab, ensure that Enable NDI Output is set to YES

   

Once you've got this set up, you can generate the NDI signal using the NDI OUT menu on the SHOOT screen:
